Re: State Consortium Scales Back Common-Test Design

This seems like a good change and gives me hope that teacher concerns are being heard in the process

Re: Two questions that can change your life

I read this book recently and LOVED it!

Re: Carnegie Corporation: 'Do school differently'

I just finished the book "Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell, and I agree with his research that shows schools work! Teachers teach and students learn. Our biggest problem is that the kids in lower socio-economic groups forget most of what they learn over the summer! This is what causes us to be spinning our wheels for the better part of the school year with these kids. We will never have a system that works for all kids until we adequately address our poverty issues and develop a greater commitment to hard work and school success.

Re: Norman high schools make list of top 1,500

Awesome job high school teachers and administrators!

Re: Group seeks higher standards for Oklahoma students

This is an interesting article, but I can't help but wonder what simply raising the standards will do to help those kids who are already falling behind due to poverty and/or attendance issues. I am all for high standards, but feel like the issues that prevent success in school or math are not really related to the standards. Is this just me or does anyone agree?
