Re: Homeschooling: State of Victoria Standards

Lookout Victoria, you may have some new immigrants from California! This article has peaked my interest in learning more. Like, how exactly is the government school funded in Australia? And, how many homeschool families actually partially enroll in the government schools? I get the feeling from the site, that Victoria really trusts parents. I noticed that all parents can even choose which school their child will attend based on preference and how the school "caters" to the child! WOW! Take a look at the questions they list to get a parent to thinking about which school is best, "What facilities does the school offer, and are you comfortable with the ‘feel' of it?" Amazing. Especially after the recent California ruling, the attitude here in the States is public officials do not trust parents to have their child's best interest at heart. Parents who choose to homeschool are automatically labeled as suspicious, at best. It is out of a deep love for my children that I homeschool myself. To have this kind of public support of my decision to personally direct the course of my child's education would seem like a dreamland. So, Victoria, how about an immigrant family from Oklahoma too?!
