Frisco ISD reimagines career, tech classes with state-of-the-art facility

Most schools have some type of career and technical program and several nearby school districts, such as Denton and Mansfield, have centralized facilities. But few have Frisco's investment capabilities or buy-in from the community and local businesses to develop a program that offers more than 10 academies and draws area professionals to teach and guest lecture.

Students can take courses for college credit in engineering graphics and accounting while still attending their regular high school. They develop computer skills with animated videos or learn chemistry basics with gourmet cooking classes. This year, 93 percent of the 800 students who took classes at the center are going to college. Only 4 percent selected technical school.
