Oklahoma ACT test scores remain static

Oklahoma students scored very close to national averages on the ACT, but very few met the college-readiness benchmarks in all four test subject areas, according to a report released Wednesday.

The greatest challenge in Oklahoma's performance on the ACT college-entrance exam continues to be mathematics. While the state has increased expectations in mathematics in recent years, we simply must make math more of a priority for each Oklahoma child. There is a clear gulf between our students' performance in mathematics and college-readiness benchmarks. -- Sandy Garrett
