10 Oklahoma schools make 'best' list

Newsweek's annual list of America's best public high schools included 10 Oklahoma schools, including Oklahoma City's Classen School of Advanced Studies, which ranked 39th in the nation.

Newsweek reporter Jay Mathews outlined the methodology of determining ranks for the list, saying he "decided not to count passing rates in the way schools had done in the past because (he) found that most American high schools keep those rates artificially high by allowing only top students to take the courses.”
